The newly formed folk trio ”Alterne” invites the listener into an atmospheric universe where innovation and tradition collide. Their music described as “Dream Folk,” offers a combination of original self-composed pieces and carefully selected folk songs.
The trio consists of Ida Marie Jessen from Denmark, whose crystal-clear vocals immerse the listener in a musical landscape exploring aspects of life’s many facets such as doubt and longing, joy and dreams. Belgian artist Oscar Beerten, drawing inspiration from Nordic folk music, unfolds his talents on violin and hardanger-fiddle. Maimu Jõgeda from Estonia skilfully combines tradition and reinterpretation through her charismatic accordion play.
The group met through their studies at the Sibelius Acedemy in Helsinki (FI). Since then, they developed a unique musical portrait that fuses elements from folk music, pop, and ambient genres. On stage, Alterne creates an engaging and captivation atmosphere, bringing their musical narratives to life.
